Following the decision taken to close by the Gray's Medical Centre and Gosbury Hill Health Centre, we have been working hard to take on additional staff to deal with the new patients we have taken on. Although we were sad to lose Dr Mueller, who moved abroad in June, we were very fortunate to recruit Dr Gill, Dr Rooms and Dr Bruins by the end of September. We were especially pleased to achieve this level of recruitment, bearing in mind the national shortage of GPs. We still have an advert out for another GP to work at least 2 days a week with us.
We have also now successfully recruited a new Health Care Assistant, Agata, who is going through her training. A current member of the reception team, Bex, will hopefully be up and running taking blood samples for patients by the New Year. Leonie, who has been working as a Health Care Assistant with us for a number of years, is working through her training to become a practice nurse. She will soon be able to do additional types of appointments to support Barbara, Jan and Kate.
We hope by providing this update you will understand that the practice is working hard to increase the number and range of appointments available to patients, in the face of a very difficult Healthcare recruitment picture.
If you have any questions about our recruitment situation, please feel free to ask for an update at the reception desk.
